The Christmas Caterpillar

The Christmas Caterpillar is a story about a monarch butterfly caterpillar munching on milkweed in a Southern California garden in December. When the caterpillar sees the colorful Christmas tree inside the home, he is delighted by it and longs to get a closer look. To his surprise he is captured by the boy who lives there and is brought inside. Here’s his chance! He makes his way to the Christmas tree and builds his chrysalis among the glittering branches.

Part science lesson on the life cycle of the monarch butterfly and part whimsical adventure, The Christmas Caterpillar is unpublished and exists in proposal form with a storyboard and several illustrations completed.
