Amorisa is…

. . . an artist living and working in Southern California. She grew up in the sunny suburbs of Los Angeles. For as long as she can remember she has loved to read children’s books and draw pictures of her own. In her first-grade class, each student had a “bookworm”—a construction-paper caterpillar with a 3-inch circle added for every book they read. Amorisa loved reading picture books so much that by the end of the year her caterpillar wrapped all the way around the classroom. She loved making pictures so much that her family refrigerator was eventually consumed by all the drawings her parents proudly displayed there.

Her love for drawing led her to Otis College of Art and Design, where she earned a BFA in illustration, with honors. After graduating, she spent a decade as a freelance illustrator and designer working for clients such as Mattel and Cartoon Network. Amorisa took time off from her career to raise her kids, but her love for picture books stayed alive as she read countless books to her children. She has always remained active as an artist, painting portraits of her dogs, decorating the school library for its annual theme or creating Halloween costumes for her family.

Today, Amorisa lives with her husband, two kids and sweet little yorkipoo Nora near the beach in Ventura, California where she creates illustrations that enchant and inspire children and parents alike. In addition to great stories and gorgeous artwork, Amorisa loves summertime, beaches, dogs, nature walks, yoga, spicy chai lattes, 80s dance music and baking chocolate desserts.
